A typical Saturday

Saturday the 17th of September proved to be a busy day for the Tyburns! In the morning three of us were involved in the ‘Open House’ event at the Wigmore Hall in London. We assisted workshop leader Rus Pearson and our inspiration for the workshops was a piece called ‘Hot Foot Frenzy’ composed by Jackie Walduck, leader of Ignite (Wigmore Hall Learning’s outreach ensemble). We gave three workshops during the day – all of which were totally different but thoroughly rewarding – outreach work is something that we all enjoy and so were delighted to participate!

In the evening we played in the stunning Chandos House in London for the civil partnership of Peter and Nigel. We performed an opening set of classical and light romantic repertoire before the speeches took place and then (on request of the happy couple) we put our disco shoes on and gave the guests renditions of popular classics including YMCA, I will survive and a fabulous Abba medley!
