Spencer House - St James's Place – twice in one week

Posted on Wednesday 28.04.2010

On the 21st and 28th of April we were playing at the stunning Spencer House in London. The House itself is recognised as one of the most ambitious aristocratic town houses ever built in London and it certainly didn’t disappoint us! Our first booking was playing for the launch of the Serenata Music Festival. The Serenata Festival is the first classical music festival in Britain – this years’ festival is to include performers such as Katherine Jenkins and Russell Watson so we felt very privileged to be asked to play for the launch. We began by performing some of Mozart and Haydn’s most popular string quartets including Haydn’s  ‘How do you do?’ - Op.33 No.5 and Mozart KV80. As the evening continued we then played some lighter pieces. Other entertainment for the event was provided by a group called ‘Incognito’ who were opera singers that pose as waiters before revealing their true identity! Overall, it was a fantastic evening, we thoroughly enjoyed performing under the beautiful archway in the Palm Room – there is a photograph of this in our Gallery.

We were extremely happy to be returning to Spencer House the following week. This time we were playing for the National Trust who were holding a luncheon for all their patrons. Once again we found ourselves surrounded by beautiful decor and glorious views of Green Park. We were playing in the lavish Dining Room for this event where we performed a wide selection of classical and lighter pieces which created a relaxed atmosphere for all of the guests.
