Samsung Unpacked event in Barcelona

In February 2011 the Tyburn Quartet travelled to Barcelona to perform as part of the 'Samsung Unpacked' event, launching their latest smart phone, the Galaxy S2. We were honoured to be selected as part of the ten piece orchestra involving current and past students from the Royal Academy of Music. Our conductor, Patrick Nunn was commissioned by Samsung to compose a piece to open the show, which was great fun to play and even included a section where 5 of us used the musical applications on Samsung devices instead of our own instruments. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience, especially as it was very different to the recitals and events we are used to - we particularly enjoyed having a hair and make-up stylist on hand to make sure we looked glamourous enough for the cameras as the entire event was streamed live on the internet.
